The Klim Sixxer leather jacket is a good looking unit! It is casually styled like other Klim jackets which makes it easy to fit and wear. The leather used in high quality and looks great. There are a number of small styling features that adds to the look. This jacket is "armor ready" so you can add crash protection for use on your motorcycle.

Klim gear is a bit different animal than all other brands of gear we sell. The overall fit of Klim jackets is much more casual and less form fitted than most European gear and this leather style follows that same pattern. This jacket has a cruiser/retro sort of look and I think the casual cut of the jacket suits the purpose very well. It's really one of the few motorcycle specific leather jackets I'd consider buying if I wanted to wear the jacket off the bike as well as on the bike. The length of the torso helps with this too. It's longer than most other leather jackets and looks more like a leather style you'd see anywhere. Also, there is very little "branding" on the jacket. I see "Klim" spelled out on the left breast in a subtle "tone on tone" color, but that's about it. On the brown color, there are some dark brown accents that add to the style such as the side waist adjuster tabs and the trim around the breast pocket.

This jacket has some vent holes on the sleeves and chest to allow for some airflow. And the liner has mesh panels sewn in behind those perforations as not to restrict the air flowing through. So in warmer weather, you'll get some relief with those vents, but being a solid leather jacket, riding in the hot summer sun will probably make you wish you had your mesh jacket on. But for 9 mos of the year in most climates, a solid leather style like this will work great. I'd advise you to avoid wet weather though (unless you have a good rain jacket over). Nice leather like this won't like being soak more than a few times.

The Sixxer is "armor ready" meaning the jacket's liner has pockets built to hold armor for the shoulders, elbows, and back (sold separately, see below). Klim offers two thicknesses of armor that will fit into the pockets... CE Level 1 and CE Level 2. The basic function and approximate length and width of each level are the same, but the Level 2 is thicker and protects to a higher standard. The Level 2 armor is approximately 50% thicker (and likewise about 50% heavier) than the Level 1 armor. You can use either, but I'd personally recommend trying the CE Level 1 armor. Most street styles use Level 1, especially those that will be used as a casual jacket as well as a riding jacket. The lighter/thinner armor doesn't throw off the fit or the lines of the jacket as much as the thicker level 2. To install the elbow and shoulder armor, you turn the sleeves inside out and insert the armor into the pockets. You can fine tune the position of the elbow armor, either higher or lower in the sleeve, with small Velcro patches inside the pockets. The position of the shoulder and back armor is fixed. The D3O armor is soft and pliable and very comfortable, so we highly recommend the upgrade for wearing the jacket on a motorcycle.

There are a few nifty but subtle features I like: the collar tab is magnetic, so no snaps or Velcro to mess with, and you can fold the tab back when you don't want to use it; leather is extended over the main zipper for the first few inches at the bottom to keep the zipper teeth off your tank; notice the carbon fiber-looking trim around the breast pocket... it looks good. Overall, I really like this style and I might even get a brown one for myself!
